About the Weblog:

Casseopeia International is created as an outlet for the more serious, academic and professional social, political and economic opinion pieces of Cassandra Carter as an alternative to the more personal weblog located on LiveJournal.

About the Title:

The title is a play on the extension of the nickname “Cass” into “Casseopeia” (an alternate spelling of the name of the mother of Andromeda, which means “she whose words excel” in Greek), and “Encyclopedia Brittanica”.  But, since I felt a need for a more global aim for the page, I changed the “Brittanica” to “International”.  It might not necessarily be the best, but it does the job, I suppose.

About Cassandra C. Carter-Davis:

Cassandra Carter-Davis, or “Cass”, is a student at the University of West Georgia majoring in Criminology with a Minor in Women’s Studies.  She currently works for The West Georgian student newspaper as Sports Editor in addition to her work as a staff reporter specializing in stories relating to public health and public safety issues.  She is currently set to graduate in the Fall of 2010, and then will pursue Graduate work focusing on International Relations or Public Administration.

She is also a writer of fiction stories, and has twice been a recipient of state-level writing awards for her short stories.  She is currently doing work on her first novel during break periods in the class schedule, in addition to working on several academic papers for publication.  Her academic works focus on agricultural sustainability, international affairs, public health issues, and the use of graffiti artwork as a means of self-expression.

She enjoys listening to music by Karsh Kale, John Coltrane, Natasha Bedingfield and the Sam Koon Band.  She enjoys artwork from around the world, particularly graffiti works by artists like Banksy and Borf, as well as Japanese animation-styled still artwork.  She will read anything, including instruction manuals and those little inserts that come in prescription drug boxes; however, she most enjoys works of a sociological, psychological, historical or philosophical persuasion (despite being a fiction writer, she does not actually read too much fiction these days).  Her favorite food is Chicken Fried Rice with Teriyaki Sauce.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Where can I see your personal (livejournal) weblog?

A: I won’t be posting that information here due to privacy concerns and my desire to keep my personal life and professional/academic life separate.  If you really know me in person, then hit me up on facebook or e-mail me and I’ll tell you.

Q: Where can I e-mail you?

A: Send it on down to cccarter23[at]gmail[dot]com or to casseopedia[at]yahoo[dot]com, replacing the [at] with an @ symbol and the [dot] with a period (“.”), because I have to do that to keep from getting 20,000 spam mails from Nigerian Princes and Spanish Lottery Commissioners about the 50 trillion dollars they’re going to give once I send them my credit card info, social security number, bank account number and my drivers license.

(If you have a question you want answered here, just post it as a comment and I’ll reply within here– Warning, comments posing questions will be deleted once they’ve been transfered to the FAQ)
